Entryway

Entryway is used for sensors in areas where you usually enter and leave your home, such as a hallway or foyer.

When a sensor is added as an entryway sensor, you can have a delay before the alarm is triggered. This gives you time to disarm the alarm in the app or on the keypad when you arrive home.

When should you use Entryway?

Use Entryway for sensors that detect you when you enter your home.

For example:

  • door sensor on an exterior door
  • motion sensor in a hallway or foyer
  • other alarm sensors covering the entryway

If a sensor in the entryway is selected in the currently active arming mode but is not added as an entryway sensor, it will not have a delay. The alarm may therefore be triggered immediately when the sensor detects activity.

How to select sensors for the entryway

  1. Go to the Eva Alarm card
  2. Tap Entryway
  3. Tap Select sensors
  4. Select the sensors that should be part of the entryway
  5. Tap Save

How to set an alarm delay

  1. Go to the Eva Alarm card
  2. Tap Entryway
  3. Tap Delay
  4. Select the desired time
  5. Tap Save

Choose a time that gives you enough time to enter and disarm the alarm, but no longer than necessary.

Important considerations

Sensors that point toward or cover the entryway should also be considered. For example, a motion sensor in the living room may trigger the alarm if it detects movement from the hallway, even if it is not physically located in the entryway.

Therefore, make sure to select all sensors that can detect normal entry to and exit from your home.
