Notifications to Friends When an Alarm Is Triggered

Notifications to friends are SMS notifications that can send a message to selected contacts if an alarm is triggered in your home.

You can add up to five contacts. They can be notified, for example, in the event of:

• burglary alarm
• fire alarm
• water alarm

The service is included with Eva Alarm, and you do not pay extra per SMS.

What are notifications to friends used for?

Notifications to friends allow people other than you to be notified if something happens at home. This can be useful if you are away, do not have your phone available, or want someone nearby to be notified in the event of an alarm.

You decide which alarm types should send SMS messages to your contacts.

How to add an emergency contact

1. Open the Eva Alarm card
2. Tap Notifications to friends
3. Select Notifications to friends
4. Tap + in the upper-right corner to add a new emergency contact
5. Enter your emergency contact's information
6. Tap Save in the upper-right corner

After you save an emergency contact, they will receive a message informing them that they are now your emergency contact and will be notified if your selected alarms are triggered.

Choose which alarms should send notifications to friends

Under Notifications to friends, you can choose which alarm types should send SMS messages to your emergency contacts when an alarm is triggered.

You can enable notifications to friends for:

• Fire alarm
  Sends a message to your emergency contacts if a fire alarm is triggered.
• Water alarm
  Sends a message to your emergency contacts if a water alarm is triggered.
• Burglary alarm
  Sends a message to your emergency contacts if the burglary alarm is triggered.

You decide which alarm types should be enabled. Only alarm types that are turned on will send SMS messages to your emergency contacts.

Time before a message is sent

You can choose how much time should pass before an SMS is sent to your emergency contacts after the alarm is triggered.

You can choose between:

• 1 minute
• 2 minutes
• 5 minutes

If the alarm is reset before the time has elapsed, no SMS will be sent to your emergency contacts. This can be useful if the alarm is triggered by mistake and you want the option to stop the notification before other people are contacted.

Preview messages

Under Preview messages, you can see which SMS messages are sent to your emergency contacts.

Here, you can preview messages for:

• new emergency contact
• triggered burglary alarm
• triggered fire alarm
• triggered water alarm

This makes it easier to see what information your emergency contacts receive if they are notified.
